After receiving feedback from players of all kinds, from professionals to top amateurs, Titleist are convinced their new irons have something to offer the competitive, better player.

“It became very clear that there exists a community within the better player market that requires the simple design and traditional feel and responsiveness of a classic forged iron,” said Steve Pelisek, General Manager of Titleist.

“Based upon the overwhelming positive comments from Tour players, club pros and competitive amateurs alike, the new MB and CB irons will please even the most adamant traditional iron enthusiasts.”

“The new MB irons have already been used on Tour, most recently in the last few weeks by players including Adam Scott and Davis Love III.”

Both the MB and CB irons boast an improved feel and superior shot control, while still maintaining the look of a classic club. Forged from 1025 carbon steel with bright chrome plating, both have a soft topline and rounder profile, appearing classic and contemporary at the same time.

The biggest difference between the two comes in the feel of the iron on impact, due to the CB’s optimised cavity shape in comparison with the MB’s muscle behind the club face.

“We have created a uniform muscle shape in the new MB and optimised cavity muscle in the new CB that provide more mass behind the impact area to achieve the quintessential ‘soft, solid feel,’” explained Titleist’s vice-president of research and design Dan Stone.

This means that while both feel solid, the CB allows for increased inertia (resistance to twisting), a higher flight, and more forgiveness, while the MB provides better trajectory control and workability.

The new MB irons have already been used on Tour, most recently in the last few weeks by players including Adam Scott and Davis Love III.

Both MB and CB irons are available in right and left hand and retail for £102 per club (steel shafts).

The clubs hit shelves on November 1 2009.
