The Groove Sharpener Tool
We’ve tested the Groove Sharpener Tool — a device specifically engineered to breathe new life into your old wedges. The manufacturers claim the contraption re-sharpens dull, blunt grooves and alleviates the need to buy new wedges every time they sustain wear and tear. But does it really work? And can it save you the money and hassle of buying a brand-new wedge every few years? Find out.
The Claim:
The Groove Sharpener is distributed by CozmoSports. Here’s what they say about it.
Put new life into your short game by sharpening your clubs grooves.
Wedges in particular get beat up over time, stones, sand and dirt all help to gradually reduce the grooves efficiency.
The Groove Sharpener will remove the squashed metal, and reshape the grooves reclaiming the original design, and putting you back in control allowing you to play your best.
You can re-cut and redefine the edges of any grooves Square, V or U grooves and your clubs will stay within the games laws. Take The Golf Groover on the course to clean your clubs when playing.
The Truth:
Everyone knows that, over time, all golf clubs begin to wear out.
Excessive use and a lack of cleaning combine with compressed turf, sand and soil to really blunt grooves and stop all hopes of spin you have.
“The groove sharpener revitalises your old wedges and saves you a great deal of cash in the process.”
But what can you do besides shell out another £100+ for a new wedge?
Before we discovered the groove sharpener, we didn’t think there was another option, but after testing out this innovative gadget, we know there is.
So what is the groove sharpener, and how does it work?
In a nutshell, the groove sharpener is a metal tool which features a screwdriver-like bit in the end of it, right.
This ‘bit’ is designed to fit snugly into your wedge grooves and bring them back to ‘as-
new’ sharpness. The result is more spin and ultimate stopping power with your shorter clubs.
But most importantly, the specific construction of the bit means that your clubs will stay legal — no matter how you use it.
But did it work? To find out, we took a five-year-old Titleist Vokey wedge, which had previously been hidden away in a garage due to a lack of spin, and sharpened it.
The result was mesmerising. After just ten minutes with the sharpener, the wedge was nearly back to its best. What was once a club incapable of getting bite with even the softest of balls is now generating enough spin to grab even a mid-range ball.
“The result was mesmerising — after just ten minutes with the sharpener, the wedge was nearly back to its best.”
It sounds sensationalised and more like promotional material than a genuine review, but this is the truth — the groove sharpener revitalises your old wedges
and saves you a great deal of cash in the process.
Unless you fancy a brand new model, and the huge price tag that comes with it, you cannot overlook this tool. It will undoubtedly breathe new life into your old wedges and reunite you with your old accomplices.
To Sum Up…
An innovative and extremely effective tool which will sharpen your wedges and bring them back to their best. It will therefore save you money and help you generate some brand-new backspin. Very effective and great value.

I’ve had one of these for a while and can confirm they work a treat. I have a very old Titliest Davis Love wedge and was very worn but I managed to get some more zip out of it after using this tool.
All we need now is a DIY Chroming kit and the wedge really would be like new!
