Nike One Tour D Ball
The distance-packed brother to the Nike One Tour can make a real difference to anyone’s long game. But is it simply a pricier version of a Pinnacle Gold? Find out here…
What they say:
Engineered for the distance game. Maximum tour distance enhanced by Power Transfer Technology. The One Tour D delivers superior length off the tee resulting in shorter approach shots into the greens. Maximize distance but still keep feel and control.
What we say:
If you are looking to add a few vital yards to your game, but don’t want to sacrifice the feel of a top-quality ball, the One Tour D is definitely for you.
It has a three-piece construction which marries a soft and smooth cover with an inner ‘Power Transfer Layer’ to maximise distance and help lower spin with the longer clubs.
“If you are looking to add a few vital yards to your game, but don’t want to sacrifice the feel of a top-quality ball, the One Tour D is definitely for you.”
But, with the shorter irons and wedges, it far from lacks spin thanks to the specifically engineered dimple pattern which rides the grooves and gives outstanding control and bite on the greens — exactly what you should be getting with a premium ball.
We were amazed with the Tour D — we’d previously hit its premium predecessor, the One Tour, a few minutes earlier and found it to be seriously long, but it was simply outclassed in the distance standings.
“…it far from lacks spin thanks to the specifically engineered dimple pattern which rides the grooves and gives outstanding control and bite on the greens…”
Granted, it couldn’t compete in the spin department, but the distance you can achieve more than makes up for it.
Although this ball can, and most probably will give anyone a handy distance boost, it is best left to the better player. Anyone in and around single figures who struggles from the tee will benefit from it greatly — anyone over this will not unlock its full potential.
